Ford maintenance information

Ford digital service history explained

Ford service history is the maintenance record connected to a vehicle over time. On older Ford vehicles this may still be a printed service book, workshop invoices and inspection papers. On many newer vehicles, some maintenance information may also be held online or recorded digitally.

Ford UK describes a Digital Service Record, or DSR, as an online record of service history. Ford also explains that service history can be checked through the Ford app, the Ford website or a printed service book for older vehicles. Ford Netherlands gives similar owner guidance and says availability can depend on the age of the car.

A Ford digital service history may include recorded service visits, maintenance dates, mileage readings, workshop entries, inspections, maintenance operations and service interval information. It may also show gaps in the available timeline. The level of detail can differ from one vehicle to another.

Availability depends on the model, production year, market, servicing location and digital registrations. A Ford serviced by an authorised Ford dealer may have records in one route, while a privately serviced vehicle may rely more on invoices. An imported Ford can have records from another country, but those records may not always be returned for a buyer’s request.

Use available Ford maintenance history as evidence, not as a complete promise. Compare the returned entries with invoices, the service book, inspection documents, seller statements and the vehicle condition. A missing digital entry does not prove that maintenance was missed. It means that no matching digital record was available for that period.

Official owner information is available through Ford service history support, Ford Digital Service Record information and the Ford app.

Digital or paper

Newer Fords may have online records. Older cars may still depend on a printed book.

Dealer entries

Ford says service history information can be added by a Ford dealer in specific cases.

Vehicle-specific results

Record availability depends on the Ford VIN, market, age and servicing route.

For Ford owners

Ford owner or used-car buyer?

A Ford owner may be able to access available service information through official Ford channels. Depending on the country and vehicle, this may include FordPass, the Ford app, a Ford Account, an authorised Ford dealer or an official Ford service centre.

Ford Account can show owner manuals, warranty information and service history in supported markets. Ford app information also includes service reminders, service requests and digital service history features where available.

Owner access is not the same as buyer access. It may depend on the vehicle being added to the Ford account or app profile, the country, the vehicle age and the records held for that VIN.

For buyers and sellers

A buyer usually has limited access

Someone buying a used Ford usually cannot open the previous owner’s Ford account, FordPass profile or private dealer records. Ask the seller for invoices, service book evidence and any Ford dealer printout they can provide.

VehiclePass helps buyers, sellers and importers request available maintenance information before purchase. It is independent from Ford and does not replace official Ford owner support.

Report scope

What a Ford service history may include

VehiclePass focuses on available Ford maintenance history connected to the VIN. It is not a complete vehicle history report, not a full VIN decoder and not a technical inspection.

Service dates Yes, where available Use dates to build the maintenance timeline.
Mileage Yes, where recorded Compare service mileage with the current odometer.
Workshop entries Yes, where supplied See whether a workshop visit was digitally recorded.

Before purchase or resale

Why Ford service history matters

A used Ford can be a city car, family SUV, work van or performance model. The maintenance story matters in every case. A Ford service history can help you check how the vehicle was cared for before you buy, sell or import it.

For buyers, available records help compare the seller’s statement with service dates, mileage and workshop entries. For sellers, a structured report can support the invoices and service documents already held. For importers, returned records can help explain part of the vehicle’s earlier life before transport or registration work begins.

Maintenance consistency deserves attention. Dates should make sense. Mileage should usually move forward in a logical order. Missing records do not automatically mean poor maintenance, but they are a reason to ask for more evidence. This is especially important for high-mileage commuter cars, used commercial vehicles and imported stock.

Use the report together with the service book, invoices, inspection papers and a vehicle inspection. Our guides to odometer fraud warning signs and digital service history for imported cars explain why mileage and service records should be checked together.

Model coverage

Ford models commonly checked

Ford service history requests often concern the Fiesta, Focus, Mondeo, Puma, Kuga, EcoSport, Explorer, Mustang, Galaxy and S-Max. Buyers also check practical passenger and commercial models such as the Tourneo Connect, Transit, Transit Custom and Ranger.

Newer electric Ford searches can include the Capri and Explorer EV. A model name does not guarantee digital records. Results still depend on the individual VIN, production year, market, servicing history and digital registrations.

Clear and independent

Independent Ford service history check

VehiclePass is an independent service and is not affiliated with Ford. It does not provide access to a FordPass account, Ford Account, Ford dealer account or private dealer file.

The request is based on the VIN. Where data is available, VehiclePass presents returned maintenance information in a PDF report. The report is focused on service records, workshop entries, mileage at service and maintenance history. If no data is found, the payment is refunded.

Good to know

FordPass is an official Ford owner app. VehiclePass is a separate independent report service for available maintenance records.

Maintenance records

Not a Ford VIN decoder or accident report

A VIN decoder usually identifies specifications, equipment or production details. This Ford service history check has a narrower purpose: available maintenance records linked to the VIN.

The report does not include accident history, damage records, theft records or ownership history. It also does not replace an independent mechanical inspection.
